Everybody loves getting away and enjoying a family holiday, though unfortunately, it’s often easier said than done, particularly with regard to the rising cost of everything. That being said, it’s not entirely impossible for you to enjoy some quality time with your family, you just have to approach the family holiday a little differently.

camping

You don’t have to leave the country for it to be deemed as a holiday, nor do you need to do so to have a good time. Camping is the answer and it’s a whole lot of fun too! And, it doesn’t have to be as expensive as you’d imagine. Camping is only as expensive as you make it and if you’re prepared to make sacrifices and put in some careful planning, you’ll be able to pull off a fantastic time at very little cost! Here’s how:

1 – Shop Around for the Best Prices on Equipment

With a bit of patience, you’ll be able to find all the camping equipment that you need without breaking the bank. Shop around for affordable camping mats, quality tents and sleeping bags and all the other necessary equipment that you’ll need. Just don’t go overboard. There are so many fun and funky gadgets that you can find, many of which aren’t all that necessarily, especially if you’re trying to save money!

2 – Try Not to Stray Too Far

There’s a terrible stigma that staying relatively local to where you live isn’t a proper holiday and therefor won’t be enjoyable or at all worth it, which is of course, nonsense. You don’t have to travel to the other side of the country to have a good time! Get online and look at some of the natural areas surrounding your home and find somewhere relatively close by so that you can save on travel expenses!

3 – Kiss Your Electronic Devices Goodbye!

Shut off from the world for a little bit and spend some quality time with your family. There are many places which are off-the-grid which will not only be cheaper for you, but you’ll also have an incredible time bonding properly with your family. Just be sure to keep a phone turned off with enough battery to call for help in case of an emergency. Otherwise, switch off for a while!

4 – Use What You Can from Home

You don’t have to bring your best silverware or your grandmother’s crystal wine glasses, though there must be some old bits and bobs that you can take with you, rather than buying purpose-built equipment. Have a dig around through your cupboards and see what goodies you can find!

5 – EXPLORE!

You don’t have to spend money to have fun! In fact, there are many games that you can play and places to explore which won’t cost a penny. It may take a little bit of work encouraging your children to have fun without their ipads, but it will be worth it in the long fun!
