You can buy affordable camping mats which have been used before but will do the exact same job as a brand-new set. There’s no shame in buying used. Think about how much old junk that you have in the house that you don’t use any more. Have a dig through your garage and see what you can come up with! You might be able to flog a load of old bits and bobs and cover the cost of your camping trip all together!

Don’t waste your money on loads of pre-made meals. Grab a decent cool-box and buy plenty of nourishing supplies; then cook your own dinner of an evening. It’s a great way to share quality time with your kids, teaching them real-life skills. That, and food cooked over a campfire tastes 100x better!
